Dragon Interview: Caroline Reeves, Leader of the Guildford Liberal Democrats

Cllr Caroline Reeves

Caroline Reeves is the leader of the opposition and eight-member Liberal Democrat group at Guildford Borough Council. She has been a councillor representing the diverse town centre ward of Friary and St Nicolas since 2005.

For her, being a councillor is a full-time job. She chairs the Overview & Scrutiny Committee, sits on three council committees: Corporate Governance and Standards; Employment Committee; and the Planning Committee, is substitute on three more and is also a member of the following working groups: Electric Theatre Working Group; Guildford Community Covenant Panel; Museum Working Group; Property Review Group; Town Twinning Working Group.

If all that is not enough, in her free time she is a judge on Guildford in Bloom and a Trustee of Guildford Action.

In this interview with Dragon editor Martin Giles, Cllr Reeves says what the Lib Dems might have done better if they had been in charge, the defection of Colin Cross from the Lib Dem group and considers the thorny problem of who she could form an alliance with if a hung council were to be the outcome of the borough council election in May (2019).

The film was made by Megan Scott at Dapdune Wharf with kind permission of the National Trust.

Soon we hope to bring readers a video interview with the Conservative council leader Paul Spooner. Please check back.
