The Dragon is inviting a selection of backbench borough councillors from across the political spectrum for interview. We thought it would be a good idea to hear from some of the councillors who don’t sit on the Executive and who get less exposure.
First to talk to Dragon editor Martin Giles is GBC’s youngest councillor Maddy Redpath (R4GV) who has represented Holy Trinity ward since 2019.
In a typically forthright style, she recounts the ups and downs, the frustrations and the satisfaction of being a borough councillor.
She is asked how she manages to balance her full-time job as an engineer with her councillor role, whether there are any particular obstacles for women councillors and whether R4GV has achieved its campaign promise to provide more openness at the council.
Please watch…
Next in line Will Salmon, a Lib Dem councillor representing Onslow Ward.
