The family of a cyclist who died following a collision on the A31 at Runfold in October have paid tribute to him.

In a statement issued by Surrey Police, the family of 40-year-old Aran Potkin from Farnham said: “As a family, we are devastated by the loss of Aran, and we request our privacy is respected at this time.”

The collision involving a van took place on the Farnham-bound carriageway of the A31 at around 8.55pm on Tuesday, October 24.

Police are still investigating what happened and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision or were travelling through the area with dashcam between 8.30pm and 9pm on that date to contact them quoting PR/45230120841.

This was the second road death in the area within a fortnight. A motorcyclist died on October 14 in Westwood Lane, Wanborough, just off the A31, in a collision with a Ford Mondeo.

There have been numerous accidents in Westwood Lane over the years and the residents are now campaigning for action.

The goal of the Reclaim Westwood Lane campaign is to persuade Surrey County Council to introduce effective traffic calming measures.

A similar campaign is taking place in Ash Green, where residents are campaigning for safety measures on the main road through their village following the latest accident involving two cars.

The collision in White Lane happened on October 10 and two people were taken to hospital.
