Staff at Specsavers in Guildford are supporting the Guildford Lions Firework Fiesta this Saturday (November 4) at Stoke Park by handing out free children’s high visibility jackets on a first come, first serve basis from 6pm onwards at torch collection points on the High Street.

Courtesy of Specsavers, free children’s high visibility jackets on a first come, first serve basis will be available from 6pm onwards at torch collection points on the High Street as part of the Guildford Lions Fireworks Fiesta at Stoke Park on Saturday, November 4.

The jackets are to ensure children remain visible throughout the evening. Ear plugs to protect adults’ ears from the loud bangs will also be available.

Andrew Lewis, store director, has always championed children’s safety and visibility on local roads, and to date, has supplied hundreds of fluorescent vests to the community over the last decade.

He said: ‘It is a real pleasure to play our small role in keeping children safe and visible during this truly amazing torchlight procession that will leave the Guildhall at 7pm. We expect the jackets will be very popular, so do come early to avoid disappointment.”

The torch procession leads to Stoke Park where crowds will be entertained by Peter Gordon from Eagle Radio before the firework display managed by the largest firework display company in the UK, Pains Fireworks, begins around 8pm.

This whole event enables families to safely enjoy a professional show for a minimum donation of £5.

All profits from this charity event will be split between Challengers, Headway and the Guildford Lions’ Welfare Fund.

Just a word of warning. Most hi-vis jackets are highly flamable.

      Very good point Mr Harris.

      Thankfully, no incidents were reported.
