Shoppers, visitors and local residents can enjoy a great start to the new year with free park and ride Saturdays, thanks to Guildford Borough Council.

Park & RidePark and ride will be free from 10am every Saturday from January 18 to March 29 at Artington, Merrow and Onslow park and ride sites.

The 11-week promotion was agreed by the Council’s Executive to boost trade, increase visitor numbers in the town and encourage the use of park and ride. Park and ride provides a convenient way of getting more people into the town centre without adding to the number of cars on the roads.

Park and ride will be free from 10am at Artington, Merrow and Onslow park and ride. Buses run:

  • every 10-12 mins from Artington until 7.30pm
  • every 15 mins from Merrow until 7.30pm and
  • every 15 mins from Onslow until 7pm

Cllr James Palmer, lead councillor for infrastructure, said: “This is great news for anyone visiting Guildford. Come and enjoy our great range of shops, visit one of our theatres or enjoy a walk in the Castle Grounds. Park and ride is an easy way to discover what Guildford has to offer. So why not try something new this year – best of all it’s free!”

Amanda Masters, general manager of Experience Guildford, said: “We are very pleased to support this initiative. We hope many people will try something new and take the park and ride to experience Guildford town centre.”

The free park and ride is offered by Guildford Borough Council, supported by Surrey County Council and promoted by Experience Guildford.
