Two George Abbot pupils have tested positive for Covid-19, although the comprehensive in Burpham is staying open.

A school spokesperson said: “All relevant individuals have been identified and are self-isolating for the next 14 days, returning to school on October 16.

“Due to our risk arrangements, this is limited to one form group and a handful of other close contacts. A deep clean of the zone and classrooms the group has been based in, is also being done.

“We will revert to providing virtual learning for all affected students while they are at home, so they can continue their learning if they feel well enough to do so.

“The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority and we have written to parents to inform them and to reassure them of our processes and practices.”
