Creative people can get involved in a range of free events for all the family as part of this year’s The Big Draw in Guildford.

Big DrawIt runs from October 4 to November 1 and is part of a campaign to get the nation drawing. This year’s theme is ‘It’s Our World’.

Eleven Guildford venues are taking part in the event, which is organised locally by Guildford Borough Council’s arts development team. These include Watts Gallery, G Live, Guildford Cathedral and the Electric Theatre.

Cllr Gordon Jackson, lead councillor for economic development, said: “The aim of The Big Draw is to get everyone drawing. The workshops encourage everyone to explore new creative ideas and learn new skills. Anyone can join in our free events, from painting a door at The Keystone to a Hallowe’en-themed drawing workshop at the Brew House (part of Guildford House Gallery). Come along and try something new, you might discover a hidden talent!”

The launch take place on Saturday, October 4, with events at Tunsgate Arch and the Mill Studio. Drop in and join artist Stacey Allan at the Mill Studio between 9.30am and 2pm to create paper windmills, using a variety of mixed media.

Children can join the ‘It’s a bug’s life’ workshop at Tunsgate Arch from noon to 5pm to try their hand at screen-printing.

Other highlights include:
Saturday, October 11: Watts Gallery, 11am to 4pm.
Take a traditional drawing class at easels with G.F. Watts as instructor.
