Guildford Nursery School and Children’s Centre has been rated ‘good’ following a recent inspection by Ofsted.

The Ofsted report noted: “Children are relaxed, confident and happy to explore the wide range of activities on offer.”

As a school, the nursery is assessed using the same challenging framework as all primary and secondary schools.

Following the visit in November, inspectors highlighted: “Children are relaxed, confident and happy to explore the wide range of activities on offer….. Children freely and routinely access learning both inside and outdoors …..”

“All groups of children …. make good progress from their starting points. This is because adults know children’s needs well and plan activities that stimulate their interests and help them to interact well with one another.”

The Ofsted report also stated: Children freely and routinely access learning both inside and outdoors.”

Sally Cave, newly appointed head teacher at Guildford Nursery School and Children’s Centre, said: “The Ofsted rating is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of our staff and the support of our parents and governors.

“Our nursery offers a unique mix of qualified teachers, early years educators and assistants in two central settings, with enviable outdoor and indoor learning space. Our team and facilities create the best environment for young children to be happy, healthy and ready for the next stage in their education.”

The centre provides nursery education for children aged two to five years at two sites in York Road and Hazel Avenue in Bellfields. Alongside high-quality nursery provision, the centre offers adult learning opportunities and family support services.

Sally Cave added: “The Ofsted rating is a great achievement and is part of our continued progress and development. Interest in our nursery and children’s centre continues to grow and we look forward to welcoming many more new families in the future.”
