Guildford Festival 2025

By Stella Kuchanny

Stoke Park was full of energy last weekend as Guilfest returned, drawing crowds from across the area for two packed days of live music, food, and community celebration.

The festival offered something for everyone — from performances on the Castle Stage and Local Heroes Tent, to a wide range of cultural and creative stalls.

I stopped by on Saturday and was struck by how varied the programme was. There were families trying out drumming workshops, children gathered for story-time sessions, and groups lounging in the sun between performances.

The food stalls brought an international flavour to the event, with everything from Caribbean street food and sizzling paella to handmade local baked goods and vegan-friendly options. The smell of fresh coffee and grilled corn wafted through the park as festivalgoers meandered between stages and shaded seating areas. Guildford Festival 2025

There were also craft stalls and wellness zones, where local artisans sold everything from pottery to handmade soaps, and yoga instructors led short taster sessions.

Volunteers and organisers were visible throughout the site, keeping things running smoothly and making the event feel both safe and welcoming.

What stood out most was the strong community presence. Many of the people running stalls or performing were from Guildford or nearby towns. Local charities, clubs, and creative groups all had a chance to showcase their work, and it was clear the festival had made space for a wide range of voices — young and old, established and emerging.

One attendee, Sarah, who came with her children from Burpham, said: “It’s such a great way to spend the weekend. There’s something to see wherever you go. We came for the music but ended up staying for the food and the atmosphere.”

For those who haven’t attended before, Guildford Festival is a chance to see a different side of the town — one that celebrates both local talent and international culture, with something to suit all ages and interests. It’s not just an event — it’s a reminder of how vibrant and diverse Guildford’s community is.
