A 27-year-old singer and dancer, deeply affected by the loss of her aunt, is running a marathon to raise money for Target Ovarian Cancer

The Astolat and Weybridge Masonic Lodges in Guildford have endorsed Bethany Holdsworth and together, the lodges have donated a total of £3,000 to support her cause, dedicated to raising awareness of ovarian cancer and funding vital research and support services.

Following the death of her aunt two years ago, Bethany Holdsworth has become committed to promoting the work of Target Ovarian Cancer, a charity devoted to improving early diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

Bethany has raised funds and awareness for the charity’s work, and at the end of 2024, she decided to further the mission by taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon.

After hearing about Bethany’s efforts, her father Ken Holdsworth, a Freemason of twelve years, reached out to his fellow Guildford Masons. Both Astolat Lodge and Weybridge Lodge united in an overwhelming show of support to contribute to Bethany’s cause.

Peter Skoglund, Worshipful Master of Astolat Lodge, said: “We diverted the charitable receipts from our recent Christmas Party to the cause”

“Bethany’s dedication to raising awareness about ovarian cancer is inspiring, and we are proud to support her efforts.”

Bethany expressed her gratitude and emphasised the importance of her fundraiser, saying “Most deaths from ovarian cancer take place due to late diagnosis. It’s about awareness and understanding the symptoms. Every pound raised brings us closer to earlier diagnoses and better treatment options.”
