Guildford Man Charged Following Attack on Elderly Woman in Burpham

A man has been charged with attempt murder following an attack on an elderly woman in Burpham earlier this year.

David Hammond, 49, of Great Goodwin Drive, Guildford, has also been charged with common assault following an incident involving a teenage boy outside George Abbot School.

The assault on the woman took place in Woodruff Avenue around 4.38pm on June 26, 2018. This was followed by the assault on the teenage boy.

A man was arrested in connection with both incidents shortly afterwards.

Hammond is next due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on December 13.
