Surrey police badge 200A 51-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been sentenced to 28 years behind bars for sexual offences against children over a period of two decades.

The man from Guildford, appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday May 5 where he was found guilty of 31 counts of rape and sexual assault on four young girls between January 1987 and December 2007.

The investigation was launched in August 2013 and the girls were aged 3 to 23 when the offences took place.

Det Sgt Juliette Wright said, “The actions of this vile predatory man have had a profound effect on the lives of the victims and I welcome this lengthy sentence against him.

“He took advantage of four young vulnerable girls, exploited them and robbed them of their innocence and childhood. Those who commit such horrific attacks will be brought to justice and I would like to commend the victims for the bravery and courage they have shown throughout this investigation and hope that they can find some peace now that justice has been served.”

The man has been put on the sex offenders register for life with a permanent restraining order.

Surrey Police take all the forms of sexual offences very seriously and we would encourage anyone who feels they have been a victim to contact us so specialist officers can sensitively and thoroughly investigate.
