At 11am a maroon signalled the exact time when, 98 years ago, the Armistice commenced.

Guildford observed a two minute silence to mark the 98th anniversary of the end of the Great War in 1918 as part of the Remembrance commemoration of those who have died in that conflict and those following.

A two minute silence was commenced following the sounding of last post by a bugler from the Friary Band. After the silence he blew reveille.

In what has become the traditional ceremony at the Guildhall in the High Street the last post was sounded and maroons signalled the seat and end of a two minute silence.
