Guildford’s MP, The Rt Hon Anne Milton, has been re-appointed as Deputy Chief Whip (Treasurer of HM Household) in the reshuffled Conservative government formed by the new Prime Minister, Theresa May.
Ms Milton was first elected as Guildford’s MP in May 2005 in a close election against the Lib Dem incumbent Sue Doughty. A former nurse, with a doctor husband, she was appointed as Under Secretary of State for Public Health in May 2010 but then moved to the government whip’s office in September 2012.
Since being appointed a whip she has been promoted twice, becoming the Deputy Chief Whip, the first female Tory to hold the post, after the last general election in May 2015. Shortly before the general election, in March 2015, she became a member of the Privy Council and therefore granted the title “Right Honourable” .
She will now serve under a new boss, Chief Whip Gavin Williamson who was formerly David Cameron’s Parliamentary Private Secretary.

Did our MP ever make up her mind over whether or not she supported Brexit in the recent referendum?
Yes, Anne Milton informed The Guildford Dragon NEWS around 2am on June 24th (i.e. four hours after the polls closed) that she had voted to Remain. We reported this in the article: Guildford Votes Remain While the UK Votes to Leave the EU. Ed
