Head Injury Caused Death of Woman in Ash – Murder Investigation Continues

Police conducting a murder investigation in Ash have revealed that the victim, a woman in her 50s, died from a head injury.

The woman’s body was found at a property in Church View at around 5.50pm on Thursday, May 11. Police had been called out by the South East Coast Ambulance Service following a concern for safety.

A 61-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

A 64-year-old man who was arrested  has been released without charge with no further action.

An investigation is being led by Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team. A post-mortem was carried out yesterday (Saturday, May 13), which established that the cause of death was a head injury. Formal identification is yet to take place.

Police cordons remain in place while officers continue to investigate, and there will remain a police presence in the area for reassurance. Police say that anyone with concerns can speak to one of their uniformed officers.

Guildford Borough Commander Inspector Blaine Rafferty said: “The investigation is in the early stages as we work to establish the cause and circumstances around this death. However we do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.”
