There was a huge turnout for the opening drive-off the new season at Burpham Bowling Club on Saturday, April 28.

One of Burpham’s coaches, Nina Challens, shows how to ‘deliver’.

All six rinks were needed and club president Barry Macbeth and club captain Alan Mogg got things under way.

The drizzle and wind didn’t dampen matters too much, and the green, splendidly prepared for this season’s opening by Guildford’s Borough Council’s parks department, proved to be very playable indeed.

The clubhouse was completely full as players and their guests sat down to a splendid meal afterwards. The bar did excellent business as well!
