The next hustings with invited candidates who are standing for the Guildford seat at the general election on July 4 is being hosted by climate action group Zero Carbon Guildford and the Guildford Environmental Forum.
It takes place at the Trinity Centre, off Guildford High Street (adjacent to Holy Trinity Church), on Monday, June 24, starting at 7pm. All are welcome to attend.
Zero Carbon Guildford claims that 58% of residents in Guildford think that climate change is a high priority and 75% think that the loss of nature should be one of the most important concerns for the country. It adds: “The upcoming general election is a chance to demonstrate your views.”
It also adds: “Government policy on climate change and the environment not only spans energy supply, land use and biodiversity loss, pollution, public transport and active travel and waste, but also affects many other aspects of public life such as the economy, jobs and skills, our health and immigration systems, housing and the resilience of our infrastructure to increased temperatures and rainfall, so expect a broad debate.”
The organisers welcome any questions in advance of the evening. Submit them when signing up for a ticket to (https://www.
Questions are to be open and not directed at one particular candidate.
