It’s Summer At Last – Bang On Time for the Boat Festival

The boats are gathering…

Summer and the Guildford Festival Boat Gathering have arrived together this year.

Twelve months ago the river banks were almost deserted because the event had been cancelled in the spring following forecasts of a drought which could have affected water levels, and the operation of the locks, along the navigation!

Hmmm… the prediction acted like a Native American rain dance and summer was effectively cancelled along with the boat gathering.

But it is all on today for a colourful, attractive, amusing and action packed time. So why not get down to the river and join in the fun?

The theme for the festival this year is Britain at its best and children’s activities organised by the National Trust are included.

The famous raft race will commence at Millmead at 3pm (Saturday, June 6).

Guildford Dragon photographers will be on the scene to capture photos for you to enjoy.
