Letter: Guildford City’s Great Escape – These Were Real Football Matches

I feel sorry for anyone from the town who didn’t manage to make any of the Guildford City ‘Great Escape’ games.

They were football occasions of the highest standard by fully committed talented local young players; games where your nerves were tested to the limits. A real white knuckle ride.

To my mind that’s what sport should be like, not sitting in front of a screen watching highly paid prima donnas rolling around the pitch like they have been shot with an elephant gun.

The season is now over but if you love real sport make sure you are with us when the new one kicks off in August as I have a hunch that next year’s nail biter will be because we are near the top of the table.
