Letter: Guildford Has Lost Revenue While Council Dithered

In response to: £86 Million Development Plan Submitted for Guildford Park Road

Prior to 2017 when the first plan to develop Guildford Park Road car park was put forward, the car park was certainly not under-utilised. In fact it was usually full.

However GBC, in its infinite wisdom, closed it completely for a while, then opened sections of it.

It is now, roughly, half open, with the other half sectioned off and allowed to turn into wasteland. People driving into Guildford want to know they can park, and this dithering for over eight years has done nothing to allay their fears.

Revenue has been lost at a time when GBC could have done with it. I hope this development now moves forward at pace, but I won’t be holding my breath as, presumably, it will fall upon the new West Surrey Council to deliver it.
