Letter: Lions Expects Fireworks Fiesta Will Raise Up To £17,000

From Eric James, activities chairman of the Guildford Lions Club

Guildford Lions logoOnce again the Guildford public turned out in their thousands last Saturday to support our Guildford Lions Club Charity Torchlight Procession and Fireworks Display and we hope that everybody enjoyed a spectacular and, just as importantly, safe evening’s entertainment.

While some bills and income remains outstanding, we are delighted to announce that we are currently anticipating an expected profit of between £15,000 and £17,000 from the event.

This is down on last year’s result, due largely to a significant increase in costs to stage this year’s event, but it still represents a fantastic result which will allow us and our partner charities (Challengers and Headway Surrey) to make a real difference to many local people and their families.

Thank you once again for your brilliant support in making the evening such a fantastic community event and will announce the final figures as soon as possible.
