Cllr Tim Oliver

In response to: Surrey Could Be ‘Left Behind’ Without a Mayor

The current situation is highly regrettable, stemming from Cllr Tim Oliver’s [Con, Weybridge] premature decision to dismantle a system with significant remaining operational capacity.

His unilateral insistence on this transition, despite calls for caution from more prudent colleagues, has created these challenges.

We are now faced with two unaccountable entities that must solicit resources from a central service body, formerly Surrey County Council, which currently lacks leadership beyond a government civil servant.

This transition represents a significant erosion of democratic oversight.
