In response to: I Hope Councillors Examine Their Conscience’s Before Opposing Local Plan JRs
Guildford Borough Council does indeed have a big decision ahead of itself but it somehow seems completely wrong for this to be dangled in front of them by the individual taking the legal action.
The council has a responsibility to all residents of the borough not just to those who shout loudest and this should be foremost in their consciences when they make their decision whether to defend the JR’s.
I personally think that all the residents of Guildford and the council have the right to hear the judge’s decision as to whether the law has been broken and so would expect a defence certainly up to judgement day.
If the law has not been broken then the council should also try and reclaim costs just as Mr Cranwell will be doing if the JR’s are successful.
