Letter: My Plea to Landlords and Property Managers

From Sara Tokunaga

It’s that time of year again when Guildford’s population expands rapidly with the influx of new students.

I would like to send out a plea to all landlords and property managers.

Please will they ensure their new tenants have the correct number of waste bins, including food waste, to deal with food, house waste and recycling, ensuring the bins are empty when the new tenants move in.

I would also ask that they inform their tenants what can and cannot be put into each bin, include the correct days for putting out the correct bins and also inform them the bins must be moved back onto their rented property when they have been emptied.

Every year we have the same problem, and I believe landlords should be held responsible for giving their tenants useful information.

Living in a road with over 80 per cent student occupancy we have become somewhat tired of continuously knocking on doors to enlighten the students about something of which the landlords should have informed them.
