See: Local MPs Vote in Favour of Assisted Dying

Guildford marks the anniversary of the historic Commons vote on assisted dying — local campaigners thank MPs [the MPs for Guildford, Godalming & Ash and Woking all supported the Bill] and call on the House of Lords to “finish the work they started”.

Local volunteers of Dignity in Dying in Guildford will gather on Saturday, November 29 to mark one year since MPs made history by first voting in favour of Kim Leadbeater’s Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life Choice) Bill at its Second Reading — the first time such a Bill has progressed beyond this stage in the House of Commons.

This local action, part of a nationwide day of action coordinated by Dignity in Dying, will commemorate and celebrate how far the movement has come. It will also give local volunteers the opportunity to thank their local MPs for their support in voting for the Bill. Volunteers are also calling on the House of Lords to deliver the change our elected MPs and the public overwhelmingly support.

A year ago MPs listened to the public and voted for compassion, choice and dignity. This anniversary shows that momentum is only growing. People in Guildford want this change and choice — and we’re urging Parliament to get on with it.

Event details:

When: Saturday, November 29, 11am to noon

Where: Guildford Rotunda, opposite the Friary shopping centre, Friary Street, Guildford.
