Report on Council’s Partnership Benefits

In response to: Reported Council Collaboration Savings Contested By Opposition Councillors

The headlines do not match the findings which say that: “Ultimately, it is impossible to state with certainty that the overall position of GBC and WBC is better or worse as a result of the collaboration.”

The report concerns itself only with is financial savings. It does not mention the benefits which can accrue from co-working, shared training, better management, back-up support and new ideas garnered from the partner authority.

Guildford, for example, could use a bit of Waverley’s success in customer service.

Our verdict: over-hyped.
