From John Burrows-Watson
I was saddened to learn that most of the artefacts were destroyed in the fire.
My reason for writing was that my late father, Philip Henry Burrows-Watson, saw service with The Queen’s (the 2nd of Foot) during WW1, but I regret I no longer have his three medals, which were I believe referred to as “Pip, Squeak and Wilfred”.
My thanks for all that was done in an attempt to limit the spread of the fire at Clandon Park, which is only a few miles from my home. I say this as I was a former National Trust administrator at a property in North Wales.
