From Eric James, Guildford Lions Club
I am pleased to say the money raised from this year’s Fireworks Fiesta has been counted, and as expected the weather did impact significantly on the numbers attending.
As a result, subject to outstanding invoices coming in as budgeted, the evening has achieved a profit of £4,875, which is rather disappointing given all the time and effort that everybody has put in but at least it is positive!
As usual, all of this amount, without any deductions for club administration etc, will be used to help our local community.
This year we are delighted to be working with the Guildford Shakespeare Company (GSC) in support of their Brave New World programme helping lonely and disadvantaged people in our community.
We will be donating £2,000 to the GSC to help them continue with their great work with the balance of £2,875 going to our Club Welfare committee to help those in need in our community.
