In response to: Guildford’s MP Gives Her Verdict on the Budget

It is disappointing to read the response from our local MP to the recent budget. The Lib Dems have become Labour lackeys, toeing the line on policies that will damage the country.

Faced with the reality that economic growth is poor, optimism is low, hiring is down, and businesses are struggling, the Chancellor chose to penalise those who work, the businesses that employ them, and those trying to do the right thing by contributing to their pensions or increasing their savings.

Worse, with welfare costs soaring, the Chancellor has added to the welfare burden by removing the two-child benefit cap. Now people who claim benefits don’t face the same difficult decisions about whether they can afford to have another child, as everyone else does.

Local hard-working residents deserve better than having an MP who is cheering this disastrous budget. A vote for the Lib Dems in Guildford, means Labour in government.

I recently read that some of the Lib Dem Waverley Borough Councillors were originally Labour supporters. Sounds like a case of joining the Lib Dems because Labour will never win in Guildford or Godalming. Wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Well said. Exactly what I thought when I read Zoe Franklin’s comments. Local people are very worried about our economy – the last thing we all need is the local Lib Dem MP supporting Labour increasing our welfare budget and raising everyone’s taxes to pay for it.

Ms Franklin doesn’t appear to have any concern about fiscal responsibility, or the views of those who strive, who save and who work to support their families.

Children are raised out of poverty by having parents who are able to work in a growing economy. You can’t tax your way to economic growth, which this Labour government is learning to their cost.

Rachel Reeves has in the last couple of days been accused of misleading MP’s and the public. Yet this Lib Dem MP is only too happy to back her.
