Letter: Who Allowed All These Surrey Sports Park Events To Take Place on the Same Day?

No doubt you will get plenty of comments on today’s events, Sunday, January 21, at Surrey Sports Park. I only went for a sedate workout at the gym as an OAP.

Who is responsible for the calendar there that allowed a major swimming event, a netball tournament and a model exhibition to take place on the same day within the complex and have signs directing traffic there for overflow parking for the Vet School’s Open Day?

I drove around and felt so sorry for those who had parked on double yellow lines, the grass etc who had all received parking tickets on their windscreens.

I hope the authorities responsible for allowing all these events will at least pay the parking fines and make sure that this does not happen again.

I would suggest contacting the university.

Sadly this seems to be how they like to do business at Surrey Sports Park and one of the reasons I did not renew my membership after the pandemic.

These events are big income earners and I lost count of the number of times I turned back for home when faced with overflowing parking areas, particularly at weekends.
