Traffic on North Street in Guildford came to a halt this morning around 10.30am (August 6) when an unmarked refrigerated lorry collided with a shop canopy at the junction with Leapale Road.
A photo of the incident appears to show earlier damage to another part of the canopy at Entertainment CEX Exchange.

With the Saturday market in full swing, police closed the road and were seen directing drivers to a diversion.
A witness told The Dragon, “The lorry driver was nowhere to be seen. It appeared as if he cut the corner too fine as he turned down into North Street. The canopy had locked into the side panel of the lorry and I think it couldn’t be moved without causing further damage.”
No casualties were observed.
There was soon gridlock in the immediate area and police called to the scene were directing traffic along Hadyn Place as a diversion.
By midday, the street was open again and traffic flowing.

And then there were seven. (See article: "Lib Dems Remain Puzzled By Leader’s Decision to Sack Executive Member")

Poor driving no other excuse, the driver could have taken a much wider line as shown by the white lines shown in the image.
