Man Charged Under Explosives Substances Act

A man has been charged with possession of items in relation to explosives under the Explosives Substances Act following an incident in St Catherine’s Village, Guildford in December.

Michael Tongeman, 33, of no fixed abode, was charged following the incident which took place on the afternoon of Friday,  December 20, 2013 at a hostel off Ferry Lane in St Catherine’s Village.

Mr Tongeman is in custody and is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court tomorrow (Thursday, March 20).

Flashback to last year: Curious residents stand by the cordon in place across the Portsmouth Road 100 metres north of the hostel which was the centre of the police incident.
