Man Pleads Guilty to Serious Sexual Assault on Teenage Girl in 2010

police vestA 37-year-old man from Essex has pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Burpham in 2010.

Terry Smith, from Bevan Way in Hornchurch, appeared at Guildford Crown Court today (September 9, 2016) where he pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.

An investigation was launched under the name Operation Zastava following an allegation of serious sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in a wooded area off London Road, Guildford.

Mr Smith has been remanded in custody and will appear at Guildford Crown Court for sentencing on November 11.

A Surrey Police statement said: “We urge anybody who has been subject to sexual abuse or assault to report it to the police as soon as possible where dedicated and specialist officers will investigate sensitively and thoroughly.”
