A Memorial Service for Richard Billington will take place at 2.30pm on Monday, July 18, at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford High Street.
The former Mayor of Guildford and borough councillor, Richard Billington, died on May 20.
Cllr Dennis Booth, the current Mayor of Guildford 2022-23 said: “Everyone is welcome to attend the memorial service, which will be a celebration of Richard’s life.”
Richard was first elected to the Guildford Borough Council in 2011. He represented Tillingbourne ward. He was Mayor in 2019-20 and 2020-2021, unusually serving for two years because of the pandemic.
A council spokesperson said: “As a councillor, Richard also served in many other organisations. He will be greatly missed.”

Richard Billington’s memorial service will be attended by many very old friends with whom he always kept in touch. From his school days at Whitgift, his years in the Territorial Army as a Captain in the Intelligence Corps and his time at British Telecom.
He was a much-loved friend to us all.
Thank you, Richard, for all the special memories we have of you. You made the world a better place.
