Murder Investigation Case: Man Died Of Head Injuries

A post-mortem examination carried out following the death of a man in Guildford has established the cause of death as a head injury.

Feature Surrey police badge 3Police officers were called to Joseph’s Road at around 10pm on Saturday, January 3, after three men were assaulted outside the Guildford City Social Club, following a private function at the venue.

One of the victims, named by police as Richard Stroud, 46, from Guildford was pronounced dead at 4.55am on Sunday, January 4, at St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

The other two men received hospital treatment for their injuries but have since been discharged.

On Monday, January 5, Matthew Boyd, 32, of Waverley Road, London, was charged with murder, assault (GBH) and assault (ABH). He has been remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Wednesday, April 1.
