Notice: Enjoy Mayor’s Christmas Concert Online

This Sunday, December 13, was due to be The Mayor of Guildford’s annual Christmas concert, promoted by the Rotary Club of Guildford, in Holy Trinity Church.

Each year the church in Guildford High Street has been full, candle lit and decorated – the start of Guildford’s Christmas celebrations for many.

This year it is not to be but Vivace Chorus has put together an online carol concert.

There will be traditional audience carols (with words on the screen, so that you can sing along with the choir), Christmas readings and music by Vivace Chorus – including a lovely medley (Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Jingle Bells, I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas), – a welcome given by the Revd Robert Cotton, rector of Holy Trinity and St Mary’s Churches, and a Christmas greeting by the deputy mayor, Marsha Moseley.

The mayor is hoping to raise money for The Corona-19 Response Fund and Guildford Borough Council has agreed to match fund the final amount raised.

Many local care homes, that in previous years the mayor might have been able to visit, have been invited to join online.

The concert goes ‘live’ on Facebook and YouTube at 7pm this Sunday, exactly when it should have been starting if it had not been for the dreaded virus.
