Pirbright Parish Council and Lord Pirbright’s Hall will be hosting its annual Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday, December 3, at the village hall on the green.

Father Christmas will be turning the Pirbright Christmas lights this Saturday  at 5pm.

Parish clerk Helen Myers said: “At precisely 5pm, Father Christmas will be our star guest to switch on the external Christmas lights of the hall and opening the doors to Christmas stalls inside.”

There will be a selection of Christmas goodies produced by small businesses based  in Pirbright and Worplesdon.

The Cottage Chocolatier will have a supply of Advent calendars containing wonderful hand-made chocolates.

Pirbright caterer Georgina Taylor will swap hats for the evening and will be selling her hand-made Christmas wreaths.

Pirbright’s Puzzle Queen, Amelda Astfalck, will have a range of her hand-made puzzles, while and The  Christmas Bakery will be selling Christmas fruit cakes and sponge cakes, mince pies and other delights.

The Cricketers pub will be inside making Christmas cocktails and hot toddies.

There will also be an art exhibition by children of Pirbright Primary School.

Father Christmas will be in attendance to receive Christmas lists and any letters for his elves to take back to the North Pole in time for the big day.

Parish staff will be selling mulled wine, mince pies, cupcakes and snacks and money raised will go towards the upkeep of the hall.

From 4.30pm in the car park, the Waffle Tram, Owen’s Gourmet Burgers and Wood Fired Pizzas will be ready and waiting to fill hungry tummies.

Pirbright Art Club will be exhibiting original artwork, available to purchase, in the hall over the weekend, from 10am on Saturday until 4pm on Sunday, December 4.

Helen Myers adds: “The event is all totally free to enjoy and there is plenty of parking, so come along and support this community event and enjoy the Christmas festivities.”
