The Three Lions pub in Farncombe will stage a music festival to support The Fire Fighters Charity on Sunday, May 6, from noon to 11pm.

Twelve acts will take to two stages at the pub at their renowned and long-established ‘Scratchers’ music venue. The one-day festival will showcase a range of music, from blues and rock, through to folk, punk and pop, all from professional musicians giving their time free, to benefit fire fighters.

“It’s great to be able to support the emergency services,” said Pete Buckle, guitarist with The Nefarious Picaroons band. “We all recognise what an amazing job they do and it’s not often that you get a chance to pay back. So if we can do something by way of music to help publicise the charity and raise some money in aid of the fire fighters at the same time, then fantastic.”

”I have always considered it a privilege to be able to play in front of an audience, and to know it is for such a great cause is the icing on the cake,” said lead guitarist Billy ‘Hillbilly’ Hill of Cryin’ Out Loud.

Jon Coles, the drummer in The Sid James Experience agreed: “As a musician I love playing to audiences who are out to enjoy themselves, and there’s nothing more satisfying than making music to benefit others. The only regret I have is that the band can’t be on stage all day!”

The Fire Fighters Charity has been supporting the fire services community for 75 years and provides life enhancing support to the whole fire and rescue community and their families. The charity provides services including health and wellbeing, nursing, recuperation, advice and family support for fire and rescue professionals who have experienced unforeseen life-changing events whilst working on the front line.

“My watch were photographed tonight for the promotion of this event at The Three Lions in Farncombe to support our Fire Fighters Charity,” said Rowan Roberts, White Watch Commander at Guildford Fire Station. “There’s going to be a brilliant mix of music from some great musicians. Come along on May 6 and enjoy the show, and support the charity that looks after the fire fighters who look after you.”

The band stage will feature a line-up of accomplished bands – The Nefarious Picaroons, ELTEL, The Ribs, Bemis, The Sid James Experience and Cryin’ Out Loud. On the solo stage, Charlie Austen, Louise Coles, Dragonfly Sky, Jim Cozens, Claudia Stark and Allan Broad will perform.

“We were delighted to choose The Fire Fighters Charity as the pub’s charity for this year,” said Beatrice Neagu, landlady of The Three Lions. “Fire fighters keep us all safe, so helping when they need help is so important. Our music festival will raise money for them, and a huge round of applause for all of the musicians who are freely supporting the charity on our two stages.”

Tickets cost £10, with proceeds going directly to The Fire Fighters Charity.

Tickets available from The Three Lions, Meadrow, Farncombe, Godalming Surrey GU7 3HR. Telephone 01483 808118.
