Guildford Borough Council is calling for parents and children to join in free family activities in Ash and Bellfields this Easter.

Its Playrangers will be visiting Ash and Bellfields between 2pm and 4pm with hopping Easter themed activities on:

Tuesday, April 4, at Coronation Gardens, Ash, GU12 5DN.

Wednesday, April 12, at Bellfields Green, GU1 1JT.

A council spokesperson said: “Our special Playrangers sessions have so much for you to do. If the kids are feeling curious you can put on your explorer’s hat and delve into our Easter nature trail. They may just find some treats at the finish.

“If your day is feeling more about play, get stuck in with some of our most loved Playrangers activities and equipment. There will be different activities to choose from each day.

“There will also be the opportunity to learn new skills and unleash your inner ‘Bear Grylls’ with bush crafts. Get hands on experience and craft decorations using tools and wood found in nearby woodlands.

“These are free events with no need to book.”

The leader of the council and lead councillor for community and housing, Julia McShane (Lib Dem, Westborough), said:

“Our special Easter Playrangers sessions will bring families together to explore, learn and play. These two free events will bring our communities together to make cherished memories in a safe and fun environment.”

In 2022 Playrangers sessions supported nearly 1,500 young people across the borough.

Activities at Playrangers sessions are targeted for eight- to 12-year-olds but children under eight are always welcome when accompanied by an adult.

The usual Playrangers sessions run during term time across six different sites. Find out when and where sessions are held on the council’s website.

The council said it has immediate opportunities available for play workers to join the Playrangers team.

The team is looking for highly motivated and organised people who are able to advocate for and demonstrate the value and importance of good quality, outdoor play for children in the borough. To find out more and apply visit the GBC website.
