Notice: Free Lecture On Guildford’s Historic Local Regiment

Published on: 19 Oct, 2018
Updated on: 19 Oct, 2018

A fascinating talk is promised about the military heritage of Guildford through its local infantry regiment The Queen’s.

It is being given by Patrick Crowley, the Deputy Colonel of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, at Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Guildford, on Tuesday, November 6, at 7.30pm.

Hear about the raising in 1661 on Putney Heath, of the 2nd Foot, later the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, later joining with the East Surrey Regiment, and now amalgamated within the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.

This will be the last in a series of heritage lectures hosted by Holy Trinity Church this year. The talk is free and drinks will be served afterwards, for which a donation is invited.

Note: this will be in the church itself and not the Trinity Centre, where the previous talks have been. The magnificent First World War memorial to the regiment is in the church.
