George Abbot School Reunion, June 10 and 11, Gathers Pace

Published on: 27 May, 2016
Updated on: 29 May, 2016

A reunion for pupils who attended and then left Guildford’s George Abbot School in the mid 1960s is gathering pace.

Jenny Whatley, who is one of the organisers, said: “Thanks to The Guildford Dragon NEWS publishing our George Abbot 1962 photos, 20 readers left comments we have collected around 100 more names. This will be highlighted alongside the updated photos, which will be on display again at the reunion.

“At present, we have around 40 positive responses for the June and 50 for June 11, excluding partners who are welcome to both events.”

The reunion is taking place on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, and the call still goes out to any former pupils who would like to take part.

There will be a tour of the school on the Friday from 1.45pm, and on the Saturday there is a get together from 1pm at Guildford Rugby Club at Broadwater.

Familes of those who attended will also be welcome along with any former teachers.

I’ve just recognized myself as 525 on 1962 photo but couldn’t put my name on picture. I am Susan Hill. If someone could add me I would be grateful.

I’m looking forward to June 11th reunion and hopefully meeting old school friends.

Thanks Susan. I will add your name to the photo, which will then be on display at the reunion. We look forward to seeing you there.
