Notice: Guildford Lions Invite All to Firework Fiesta, Saturday, November 5

Guildford Lions Club is hoping for a large attendance at its Firework Fiesta at Stoke Park on Saturday, November 5.

In asking people to come, so the event raises a substantial amount of funds that will go to good and much-needed causes in Guildford, it has set out what will be on offer.

These include…

Entertainment. Live music this year will feature leading Mumford & Sons tribute act Chasing Mumford plus local band 21st Century Riot performing covers of Kings of Leon, the Arctic Monkeys , Blur and many more

The Lions say: “This year we will have a dedicated children’s entertainment area with children’s rides, a fabulous free fire show and a chance to buy glow sticks etc.,

“Our MC for the evening will once again be the brilliant Peter Gordon.

“We will have 20 food and drink outlets.”

On pricing the Lions say: “These are difficult times for all of us with and we recognise money is tight so despite a significant increase in our costs we have decided to maintained last year’s prices to allow as many people as possible to come along and enjoy a great and safe community event.

“This will be an all ticket event again with no sales on the night.

“Tickets will again be priced at £10 (plus booking fee) for adults with children under 16 again free, but these must be accompanied by their parents/adults.

“As with all of Guildford Lions activities, this is a charitable event with 100% of the profits from the evening used to help people in need in our community.

“This year we are delighted to be supporting the Guildford based volunteer-run charity, the Prostate Project as they raise funds to provide a mobile prostate cancer screening unit, or Man-Van, which will allow men to get the simple PSA blood test used to help detect prostate cancer.”

Event timings and security. The gates will be open from 5pm. Security bag searches will be carried out at the gates and the Lions ask that people please do be patient. Food and drinks will be available from 5pm until 9.15pm.

Live Music. 21st Century Riot will be onstage at 6pm until 7pm. Chasing Mumford will be onstage from 7.30pm until 8.30pm.

The fireworks display will start at 8.30pm. The event will close at 9pm.

Car parking. Free Parking is available at Guildford College on Stoke Road, Spectrum on Parkway. Disabled parking will be available at Guildford High School on London Road and also at the Spectrum on Parkway.

The Guildford Lions’ supporters without whom this event would not happen are: RADical Systems (UK) Ltd, Martin Grant Homes, Guildford Borough Council, Chapters Financial Ltd and Big Yellow Storage Group.
