Notice: Help for People who Struggle to Get to a Food Bank

Access to Food is a new initiative that provides funding to people who may have difficulty, due to a disability or long-term health condition, getting to their local food bank.

The scheme covers the cost of a taxi to a local food bank or provides a voucher to be spent at a local supermarket.

    What a sad indictment on our society to see councils having to pay to subsidise travel to foodbanks rather than food being affordable for everyone in the first place by ensuring that benefits actually acts as a safety net and our health and housing systems help people to be well enough to work.
