The Mayor of Guildford’s Christmas Concert is one of the musical highlights of the town’s festive season and will take place this year at 7pm on Sunday, December 11, at Holy Trinity Church, High Street, Guildford.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Guildford, this popular annual concert is now in its 64th year and will once again feature Guildford’s Vivace Chorus, under the baton of its musical director Jeremy Backhouse, as well as seasonal readings by members of the choir.

Every year the concert raises much-needed funds for local charities supported by the Mayor of Guildford during his mayoral year. The chosen charity benefiting from this year’s concert will be The Mayor of Guildford’s Local Distress Fund, which provides assistance for local people who struggle to make ends meet on a daily basis and who need the most basic items, which most of us just take for granted.

A retiring collection will also be take place at the end of the concert for the Mayor’s personal chosen charity, the Surrey Hills Trust Fund, which has been established in partnership with the Community Foundation of Surrey to safeguard the future of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The fund will help conserve and maintain the fragile environment of the Surrey Hills through a programme of projects and activities.

Tickets for the concert are £10 for adults and £6 for children under 12, and are available in advance from Guildford’s Tourist Information Centre at 155, High Street, Guildford, by calling 01483 444334, or on the door. Tickets can also be booked online at www.visitguildford.com.
