1st Shalford Scouts has been an active part of the community within Shalford for over 100 years. We have provided opportunity and adventure for over 20,000 young people over that time and remain a busy and active scout unit delivering an exciting, challenging and fun program that provides skills for life for all our young members.

Without a treasurer, we cannot function as a scout group.”

Our young members enjoy a variety of activities ranging from crafts to kayaking and communication to climbing. Fun, friendship, values, responsibility and a sense of community are all aspects we seek to engender.

We have a beaver section for young people aged 6 – 8 years, a cub section for those aged 8 – 10 years and a scout section for those aged 10 – 14 years. Guildford East District also run Explorer scout units for those aged 14 – 18. We are always looking to accommodate new young members.

Whilst we do have a strong and highly motivated team of leaders we are always looking for additional adults to join our team either as uniform leaders, assistants, occasional helpers or members of our executive. No experience is needed, just a sense of adventure (even for our executive members) and the desire to help develop young people in line with Scout association vision and values.

Online training is provided and you will be supported by our strong knit team. Obviously the more leaders we have the more young members we can accommodate. We are at present in desperate need of a treasurer as our current treasurer is standing down at the end of December. Without a treasurer, we cannot function as a scout group.

It is not an onerous commitment. We hold four executive meetings a year plus our AGM (all online at present). All accounts are currently completed and up to date and are able to be transitioned across to the new replacement. The role holder does not have to have previous accounting/treasurer experience.
