Notice: Show Off Your Garden at Phyllis Tuckwell’s Open Gardens Event

Do you have a garden that others would love to visit and admire? Why not show it off at Phyllis Tuckwell’s 2022 Open Gardens event?

The hospice care charity is looking for green-fingered residents across its catchment area of West Surrey and North East Hampshire, who would be happy to open their garden sometime between May and July this year to friends, family and the local community.

Visitors to the gardens would each pay a small fee, which would go towards helping fund the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for local patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

Gardens of any size or design can be part of this event, and Phyllis Tuckwell is particularly looking for unique and interesting gardens which will attract lots of visitors. You might have a courtyard filled with terracotta pots bursting with blooms, or an acre or two in the countryside with woods and a pond. If you’d like to share your love of gardening and inspire others this summer, Phyllis Tuckwell would love it if you would open your garden gate and help them to raise vital money to help fund their care.

As well as welcoming visitors in, you could also sell refreshments or plants at your Open Garden event, to raise even more money. Every penny that is raised will go directly towards providing medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support for Phyllis Tuckwell’s patients and their families.

Every day, Phyllis Tuckwell supports over 250 patients, relatives and carers – in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford. As the NHS/Government usually only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £25,000 a day and relies heavily on fundraising events such as this.
