The Guildford Legal Walk is back for the first time in its traditional format since 2019, raising funds and awareness of the free legal advice sector.

Announced by London Legal Support Trust, the 10km sponsored walk takes place on Wednesday, June 30. It will be led by judge Alison Raeside with Surrey lawyers, barristers, local legal advice agencies and students.

In 2019, the walk raised nearly £16,000, vital in helping the most poor and vulnerable people in the community to get access to free legal advice when facing a crisis.

The head of fundraising and founder of the London Legal Support Trust,Bob Nightingale MBE, said: “The pandemic-related support is due to end later this year and there will be many people who will be ‘left behind’ and face debt and employment issues, and who may end up homeless, or worse.

“Many of these issues can be prevented with the right legal advice.”

Teams will begin to arrive from 4.30pm in front of the County Court in Guildford and will be setting off with staggered start times. The route is circular, with drinks and nibbles being provided at the finish.

There is still time to sign up a team or as an individual.  The trust’s events team will help create a fundraising page and give advice on how to raise funds.
