Following the success of Calendar Girls in 2013, which raised nearly £7,000 for leukaemia and lymphoma research, Sunflower Productions is back.
This time the team is raising money for the urology unit at The Royal Surrey County Hospital and have brought together a fabulous cast of local performers to stage The Full Monty, The Broadway Musical.
The production runs from Wednesday to Saturday, February 26 to 29 at the Electric Theatre in Guildford. Performances are at 7.30.pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
Based on the smash hit British film of the same name The Full Monty, it follows the journey of a group of unemployed steel workers from Buffalo, New York. Jealous of the attention their wives give to a touring Chippendales show, the men hatch an ambitious plan to raise some cash and go ‘the full monty.’
Sue Sillett, co-founder of Sunflower Productions, said: “We formed in 2013 to raise much needed funds for cancer research and were astounded by the response, not just of our audiences, but from people wanting to help backstage and with fundraising.
“We’re incredibly proud of the amount we raised for charity and knew we wanted to do a follow up – it just had to be the right show.
“Fast forward to 2018 and our creative juices started flowing following experiences at the Royal Surrey. We knew this would be a great department to fundraise for and figured that it might be time the boys of Guildford had some fun!
“Rehearsals are now in full swing and we’re really excited to see it all taking shape. We’ve got a fantastically talented local cast, brilliant band and hard working production team. It’s going to be a blast!
“A big thank you to everyone who has so far supported our pre-show fundraising events. All of these are paying for the production to ensure that every single penny raised from The Full Monty show will go to the urology department.”
Stuffed full of fantastic songs and loveable characters – and featuring a highly anticipated finale number, The Full Monty is a musical about heart, humour and friendship.
Tickets cost £21 and are available at https://electric.theatre or by calling 01483 501200.
