Hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell is in need of more shop volunteers.

A volunteer at Phyllis Tuckwell’s Aldershot shop wears PPE while sorting donated stock.

Phyllis Tuckwell has 18 shops across its catchment area of West Surrey and North-East Hampshire, which sell quality second-hand items donated by the public.

All money raised in the shops goes directly towards helping fund the vital supportive and end of life care the charity provides for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

These shops rely on the support of volunteers, who generously give their time to sort, price and label donated stock, and serve customers. It currently has volunteer vacancies at its Guildford, Ash, Farnborough, Farnham and Beacon Hill shops, and its showroom at Frimley.

Phyllis Tuckwell’s retail operations manager, Barry Young, said: “We pride ourselves on the support and flexibility we offer our volunteers, and are always so pleased when they tell us how much they enjoy helping out in our shops and showrooms.

“From students wanting to boost their CVs, retirees looking for the same camaraderie and structure as the working world, or simply those who have some spare time and want to give something back to the local community, we’d love to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer for us.

“You can give as much or as little time as you like, and we’ll support you to develop your skills and really feel that you’re making a difference.”
