Notice: Zoom Into Illustrated History Talk: British Railway Bygones

Published on: 8 May, 2022

Join local historians and writers Geoff Burch and David Rose when they give their new illustrated talk British Railway Bygones online via Zoom on Wednesday, May 25, at 7.30pm.

Enjoy an evening’s armchair entertainment that takes a nostalgic look at how Britain’s railways once transported so many things – newspapers, coal, parcels, mail, pigeons, horses, cattle, milk and holiday specials, all these things now sadly going by road, if at all!

During this illustrated talk, David and Geoff will turn back the clock and describe how things were back in those days and how the railways operated, with lots of vintage railway photos (plenty local to Guildford) as well as photos of railwayana and other pieces of social history, which both of them have collected over the years.
